Digital Weight Management Research at ISCP 2026
How can digital health tools help people achieve lasting weight loss beyond medication alone? This was the question our PhD student, Jennell, explored at the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy (ISCP) Annual Scientific Meeting on 4 July 2026.
In her presentation, Jennell discussed how digital interventions can complement pharmacological approaches to weight management by addressing the intention–behaviour gap in obesity care. While weight-loss medications have transformed obesity treatment, many individuals struggle to sustain the healthy behaviours needed for long-term success. As a result, medication adherence often declines over time, with weight plateau and regain remaining common challenges.
Drawing on findings from the eTRIP study, Jennell shared how a 24-week digital lifestyle modification programme supported adults living with overweight or obesity. Participants experienced significant reductions in body weight and BMI after 12 weeks, with these improvements sustained through Week 24. The findings highlight the promise of digital health tools in supporting healthier habits and improving long-term weight management alongside pharmacotherapy.
For Jennell, presenting at ISCP marked an important milestone in her journey as a researcher.
“Presenting at ISCP gave me the confidence to discuss my research with clinicians, academics, and researchers from different disciplines. It also helped me see my work not just as a research project, but as something that has the potential to influence clinical practice and improve patient care.”
Some of the most memorable moments came after the presentation, where conversations with fellow researchers opened new avenues for thinking about her work.
“The discussions outside the presentation hall were just as valuable as the presentation itself. They sparked new ideas and fresh perspectives, and it was incredibly encouraging to receive genuine interest and thoughtful questions from attendees. It made me realise that people truly valued what I had to say.”
We are proud of Jennell’s achievements and her growing contributions to digital health research. Her work reflects our lab’s commitment to developing innovative, evidence-based solutions that bridge technology and behavioural science to improve cardiometabolic health and patient outcomes.
Congratulations, Jennell, on this exciting milestone!
